The Jaguar TWR XJ V12 is a high-performance, Tom Walkinshaw Racing-developed version of Jaguar’s XJS/XJ-S V12, originally shaped by TWR’s success in touring car racing. In road-going form, it was a sharper, lower, better-handling V12 Jaguar with upgraded suspension, bodywork, exhaust, brakes, and a more focused cabin, aimed at turning the grand tourer into something much more driver-focused.
What it was
TWR took the Jaguar XJS/XJ-S platform and applied lessons from its ETCC race programme, where the V12-powered cars became highly competitive and reportedly developed to around 450 bhp in race trim. Jaguar liked the result enough that it formed a partnership with TWR, creating Jaguarsport and offering a more road-oriented TWR version of the car.
Why it mattered
The appeal was that it kept the V12 character—smooth power, long-legged torque, and a distinctive exhaust note—but made the car feel much more agile and purposeful than a standard XJS. For enthusiasts, it’s one of the most interesting late-era Jaguars because it bridges classic Jaguar luxury with motorsport credibility.
